Do you want to know how to keep rattan beautiful for a long time?

Because rattan is a plant fiber, it's prone to drying out and cracking if not cared for properly. Rattan is hard and breathable, making it easy to maintain. While it's easy to maintain, it's important to actually do it. It would be a shame if your new or vintage rattan furniture broke!

Rattan maintenance tips.

  1. It is very important not to place your rattan furniture in the sun or near a heater.
  2. Dust your rattan furniture regularly with a microfiber cloth.
  3. To remove stubborn dirt between the strands, you can use a soft brush or toothbrush. Never scrub too hard to avoid damaging the finish.
  4. The material can only dry out and break if the lacquer layer is worn off. In that case, you can reapply lacquer.
  5. Because rattan is a natural fiber, it needs to be moisturized. You can do this with furniture polish with a high oil content. It's best to do this a few times a year.
  6. Diluting this oil with water also works very well. Spray the back and bottom of your furniture with it, leaving one side dry so the material can breathe properly.
